One Year

I cannot believe that it has been a year since we got married. I am not going to get all sappy and cheesy on here..because..well, I'm just not that kind of girl. But I will say, this year has been one of the best years of my life! I know there are many more to come, and I love that I will spend the rest of my life with my best friend. We have already gotten to experience some exciting times together (marriage, school, graduation, starting new jobs in a new location). It's been real!

Since I never got to share pictures from my wedding on my blog, we can just take a stroll down memory lane of that fun, happy day!

The photos were done by Meg Baisden. You can click on that link and it will go to her website. Meg and her husband Charles both shot our engagement photos and our wedding photos. They make a great team, and did a fabulous job! If you are looking for someone in that area to take pictures with, she is your girl!

Also, if you are looking for someone to planning your wedding or any other type of event in the Destin area I recommend Tammy from The Eventful Planner. She captured my ideas that I wanted for my wedding down to a T. She was awesome, and knows how to put on a party!

Well, that's it for my advertising announcements. I just thought I would give these people some credit because they were part of what made our day so special!

one. year.

Changes Come Around Real Soon Make Us Women and Men...

Yes. I just used John Mellencamp's song lyrics as the title of this blog entry, but it just seemed to fit so well. Many changes have happened since my last blog post, and I could probably go on and on for pages just to fill you in. (Don't worry, I will only give you the short story version of everything.) Where do I start?...hmm.

Well, on my last post I left off by saying that we were both interviewing in two different places. Before we graduated, Levi got a job offer from J.B. Hunt in Northwest Arkansas and we were so excited! We had discussed earlier that we would probably go wherever Levi got a job and I could find somewhere around there to work. I snapped this picture of him right before his interview. He looks pretty nervous doesn't he? I knew he would do great though!

After that, we had three graduations to go to for three saturdays IN A ROW! Have you ever been to a med school graduation? (miserable)
We had Tucker's graduation, Levi's, and then mine.

And as you can see, I was brave an chopped my hair off!

Tucker trying to ruin our photo op on the beach. That's what little brothers are for, right?

One of my favorite parts of Seaside. The cute post office of course!

This is our future beach house someday.....

...well it may be more like this. :)

The seaside outdoor amphitheater. I can't wait to bring my future family here someday!

In between graduation, we got to take a little vacay with my family to Florida for a week. It was a lot of fun, but it seems like it was forever ago now!

On our way back from vacation, we had a few minor difficulties having to do with our apartment lease..yada yada yada...and to top it off the suburban broke down in Mississippi and we were there for about 5 and a half hours! This is the short documentary:

Luckily, we were near an exit ramp when the car died and we rolled down a hill and into an auto zone!

The next morning we got the u-haul and all of our boxes together and moved to NWA! Pictured above were my mover men.

Now this brings us up to speed to where we are now. We are all settled into our apartment. Levi has started his training, and I am currently looking for a dental hygiene job. (I may have a lead..so prayers are much appreciated.) I like it up here a lot, but once I get to know people and have an established career I think I will absolutely LOVE it. Right now I have to keep myself occupied with crafts, and fixing our place up because I could count on one hand the people I know up here. I should be updating my blog more frequently so I can fill you in with a little more detail. Since I don't have a job right now, I am always caught up on laundry, the apartment is spotless, I have dinner fixed every night....man. I make a good housewife. Haha! I hope to blog you all again soon!

Have a blessed day

It's Official

Well, it is safe to say that in just a few short weeks my name will now be Lexie Dixon, RDH! I love having those credentials at the end of my name, it makes me feel powerful! (kind of) I passed my national boards, which is my written exam and I passed SRTA, which is my clinical exam. I think it is pretty crazy that we are the only group at MED SCHOOL that has to take a clinical exam! Crazy! My patient did show up, and I was glad to know that I could trust him..although he did occasionally drop the "f bomb" on me. Don't worry...I wasn't hurting him, he just uses it casually in his conversations. That would be my patient.....that would.

So, now that all that nonsense is done I can apply for my license and hopefully get it back sometime after graduation. It is very weird for me to look at my calendar in June, and not know anything about where we are going to be and what we are going to be doing. It is a little scary at times, but Levi and I have decided that we are giving that up to God. Wherever He decides to take us is great for me! We are both in the interview process in two different places of Arkansas right now so it is pretty crazy! I can't believe the "Real World" is almost here!

Have a blessed day

Just a pic of me with my test results! :)

Carmelita the Senorita

My best friend from high school got engaged recently, and I could not be more happy for her. She is really the only friend from my high school that I can honestly say that I have stayed close with. We could go without talking for a few months, and when we finally do get the chance to see each other it is like nothing has changed. That is what I love about our friendship. She is my little Costa Rican girl! When I look at this couple, I see more than just a couple getting married. They are going to make a great team, and will do great things in other people's lives! Congratulations Daniel and Carmen!

I'm almost there!

Only two more days until I take my BIG test! I am taking a quick study break right now, and I am going to push on the rest of the night. Tomorrow is my "relax" day. I'm not going to study because what I don't know now, I won't know on Wednesday. After the test, I am going to Texas with my mom and Susan to a big antique show! I hope to find some things to put in our new home someday. I love taking old pieces of furniture and making them new again. They have some much more character and are more full of life than most furniture that is being made today. Each piece has a story behind it.....and I LOVE that! My friend's say I am an old soul at heart, and I am starting to believe them day by day! Ha! These are a few pictures of some pieces in our apartment right now that are old, and full of character!
This is an old planter that I am using as a side table next to my chair. I plan on painting it someday.

I found this lamp at an antique mall in Searcy for only $5.00! The color blends really well with all of my colors, and I plan on doing something with the shade. It needs some kind of embellishment. It's just to "blah" for me.

This is my headboard made from an old door. I love the weathered look, and I love being able to see that the door handle is even still attached to it!

Oh, and P.S. can i say how READY I am to get out of our hamster-cage apartment!? No, but all kidding aside, it has been good for me and Levi for our first year of marriage. Even though we can't paint the walls, don't have much room, or can't change ANYTHING....we've had fun fixing it up and making it look like our home. We can't wait until we buy a home (with a yard and enough room to put a table in) and fix it up the way we like it!

Have a blessed day!

Sick of Studying

I have been studying alllllllll day for my National Boards Exam, which i take in T-MINUS 14 DAYS!! In order for me not to lose my sanity, I figured I would use my study break in order to stimulate my brain in a different way! Plus, I haven't blogged in forever. Here is a little recent update to what's been going on besides studying. Trust me though, not much else has been going on!
Yes, we even went to the Clinton Library because we are so serious and sophisticated...

Okay, so maybe "serious" and "sophisticated" were not the right words....

                                                                       .......................

The next few pictures are from the snow storm that came through!

Our "snow-woman" had to lay down because the snow was too soft to pack. She was sunbathing!

This is what I am usually found doing.....school projects. :(
Hey, at least we look cute doing them!

And then last but not least, I got to celebrate my old roomie's engagement! Woo hoo! Congrats Casey Jo!
I love my dental hygiene girls!

I can't promise that I will post before March 23rd, but I will try my best! Hey! I have a good excuse!

Have a blessed day!

Tick Tock

Tick tock goes the clock...
Time is running closer and closer to graduation!

I cannot believe how fast time has flown by. After I graduate I am not going to know what to do with myself! It is definitely a bittersweet feeling. Bitter because my long Christmas breaks, spring breaks, and a lot of freedom will be ending; Sweet because I will FINALLY be DONE with school! WOO HOO! This semester I have so many projects to do: table clinics, nursing home presentations, writing abstracts, tests, quizzes, a policies and procedures manual, and studying for boards on top of all of that!!

This is the exact planner that I use daily, and it is very useful for me!
Great for the: procrastinators
people that have too many things going on and can't keep them straight (ADD) Ha!
OCD people who would not survive without a planner
