It's Official

Well, it is safe to say that in just a few short weeks my name will now be Lexie Dixon, RDH! I love having those credentials at the end of my name, it makes me feel powerful! (kind of) I passed my national boards, which is my written exam and I passed SRTA, which is my clinical exam. I think it is pretty crazy that we are the only group at MED SCHOOL that has to take a clinical exam! Crazy! My patient did show up, and I was glad to know that I could trust him..although he did occasionally drop the "f bomb" on me. Don't worry...I wasn't hurting him, he just uses it casually in his conversations. That would be my patient.....that would. 

So, now that all that nonsense is done I can apply for my license and hopefully get it back sometime after graduation. It is very weird for me to look at my calendar in June, and not know anything about where we are going to be and what we are going to be doing. It is a little scary at times, but Levi and I have decided that we are giving that up to God. Wherever He decides to take us is great for me! We are both in the interview process in two different places of Arkansas right now so it is pretty crazy! I can't believe the "Real World" is almost here!

Carmelita the Senorita

My best friend from high school got engaged recently, and I could not be more happy for her. She is really the only friend from my high school that I can honestly say that I have stayed close with. We could go without talking for a few months, and when we finally do get the chance to see each other it is like nothing has changed. That is what I love about our friendship. She is my little Costa Rican girl! When I look at this couple, I see more than just a couple getting married. They are going to make a great team, and will do great things in other people's lives! Congratulations Daniel and Carmen! 

I'm almost there!

Only two more days until I take my BIG test! I am taking a quick study break right now, and I am going to push on the rest of the night. Tomorrow is my "relax" day. I'm not going to study because what I don't know now, I won't know on Wednesday. After the test, I am going to Texas with my mom and Susan to a big antique show! I hope to find some things to put in our new home someday. I love taking old pieces of furniture and making them new again. They have some much more character and are more full of life than most furniture that is being made today. Each piece has a story behind it.....and I LOVE that! My friend's say I am an old soul at heart, and I am starting to believe them day by day! Ha! These are a few pictures of some pieces in our apartment right now that are old, and full of character! 

This is an old planter that I am using as a side table next to my chair. I plan on painting it someday.

I found this lamp at an antique mall in Searcy for only $5.00! The color blends really well with all of my colors, and I plan on doing something with the shade. It needs some kind of embellishment. It's just to "blah" for me.

This is my headboard made from an old door. I love the weathered look, and I love being able to see that the door handle is even still attached to it!

Oh, and P.S. can i say how READY I am to get out of our hamster-cage apartment!? No, but all kidding aside, it has been good for me and Levi for our first year of marriage. Even though we can't paint the walls, don't have much room, or can't change ANYTHING....we've had fun fixing it up and making it look like our home. We can't wait until we buy a home (with a yard and enough room to put a table in) and fix it up the way we like it!

Sick of Studying

I have been studying alllllllll day for my National Boards Exam, which i take in T-MINUS 14 DAYS!! In order for me not to lose my sanity, I figured I would use my study break in order to stimulate my brain in a different way! Plus, I haven't blogged in forever. Here is a little recent update to what's been going on besides studying. Trust me though, not much else has been going on!

Yes, we even went to the Clinton Library because we are so serious and sophisticated...

Okay, so maybe "serious" and "sophisticated" were not the right words....

Tick Tock

Tick tock goes the clock...
Time is running closer and closer to graduation!

I cannot believe how fast time has flown by. After I graduate I am not going to know what to do with myself! It is definitely a bittersweet feeling. Bitter because my long Christmas breaks, spring breaks, and a lot of freedom will be ending; Sweet because I will FINALLY be DONE with school! WOO HOO! This semester I have so many projects to do: table clinics, nursing home presentations, writing abstracts, tests, quizzes, a policies and procedures manual, and studying for boards on top of all of that!!

This is the exact planner that I use daily, and it is very useful for me!
Great for the: procrastinators
                      people that have too many things going on and can't keep them straight (ADD) Ha!
                      OCD people who would not survive without a planner

This Christmas

This Christmas it has been laid very heavy on my heart that there are so many children in our world that do not have families, much less food or shelter. I just read an interesting and saddening fact that if ONLY 7% of Christians each adopted ONE orphan there would be NO orphans left!!! I just find that so mind blowing! So as you are going to bed warm on this Christmas Eve night, anxiously awaiting the Christmas Day festivities of tomorrow just realize how thankful you are for having a family and a warm home to sleep in.

I'm really diggin' this blog thing

Okay...okay..okay. I know I just posted, but I am really starting to like blogging. Maybe I have too much time on my hands, I don't know. When school starts back up in January you may not be hearing much out of me so take it ALL in while you can! Ha! Right now I want to talk about the seven families. I could talk for pages and pages about the seven families. No, it is not a cult if that is what you are thinking. There are seven families, including my family that have been friends for years and it is a very unique friendship that no one can separate. About ten years ago, our families helped start a church here in Arkansas, and these families were the seven families that started it. Ever since then, I feel that we are all one large family. Yes, I have sixteen brothers and sisters! Sometimes I tell people that, and they get a really confused look on their face. It takes me a while to explain it, and many people are still confused at how close we all are to each other. We're so close to each other that we're not afraid to tell it like it is, or act like goofballs when we're all together. I do not see friendships like this very often, and I know that God brought us all together for a reason. We have gone through a lot together. I remember when we were first starting our church, and we would meet at one of our houses. Our parent's were concerned and prayed hard about all of the kids not being in a normal "church environment" with no Sunday school or youth groups for us to be involved in. God really watched out for all of us, and I can proudly say that each of my brothers and sisters from the seven families are GREAT kids! We have some of the greatest and funniest memories! I will have to upload some old photos of all of us on here. The top two pictures are all the kids at Courtney's wedding and the last one is a picture of all of my brothers and sisters on my wedding day. There are two missing though: Bear and Anna. These guys mean the world to me, and will always be some of my best friends. God knew exactly what he was doing when he put all of us together, not only are we great friends, but we consider each other family. I hope my children can someday experience the kind of friendships that I have seen throughout my childhood.

My wedding
